Blog:

This article is about how the seven lawsuits that were filed to Cinemark because of the Midnight Shooting during The Dark Night Rises will go into one big case They will go to trial on a year and a half.  Three of the victims filed lawsuits on September 21 and four more suits were filed October 11 by some of the victims and their families.
This article is important because this shows how the people who are filing law suits actually get the chance to have a trial. What caught my eye, is that i thought that they were never going to get a chance to have their trial. As a future filmmaker, this can help me think about how i should think about how my films can affect other people. As a consumer this affects me because this shows if i ever have a problem, and i need to have a trial i know that i may actually have the chance to one.
The questions this article raises up questions like:
What will be the outcome of this trial?
How will this affect other people?

  1. Don't get me wrong, my heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones, however they're suing the theatre? Really? I understand maybe they expected the theatre to have security on it and be safe, but I feel like this is going a tad too far. The fault lies mainly with the killer.

  2. My heart does not go out to these families... at least not anymore. They have no right to sue the theatre. It is in no way Cinemark's or Legendary Film's fault that there was a random shooting spree. The movie and cinemark don't say hey go shoot up a movie theatre for us. The truth is the families are just filled with greedy bastards who feel they are entitled to money they don't fucking deserve. Everyday it's lawsuit this, sue that. What happened to being humble or even being a pleasant human being? People today think suing is the answer for everything, and just look for a quick way to get rich. They deserve to go bankrupt and lose everything for their greed. They already got money for the life insurance of their dead family members. Isn't that enough to feed those gluttonous pigs?

  3. Patricia and Spencer,
I defenitly agree with you guys! I had not seen it in that way but i see where this is coming from.
But Spencer, those words you used are a little to strong, maybe they feel what they are doing is the right thing to do so this does not happen again, but everybody will learn from their mistakes.

  4. i agree with Patricia. The theatre had no idea this would happen. The only person blamable for all this is the killers. I do feel sorry for their loss but i do not believe they should sue the theatre. I also agree with Laura about Spencer's opinion.
