This article is about how the seven lawsuits that were filed to Cinemark because of the Midnight Shooting during The Dark Night Rises will go into one big case They will go to trial on a year and a half. Three of the victims filed lawsuits on September 21 and four more suits were filed October 11 by some of the victims and their families.
This article is important because this shows how the people who are filing law suits actually get the chance to have a trial. What caught my eye, is that i thought that they were never going to get a chance to have their trial. As a future filmmaker, this can help me think about how i should think about how my films can affect other people. As a consumer this affects me because this shows if i ever have a problem, and i need to have a trial i know that i may actually have the chance to one.
The questions this article raises up questions like:
What will be the outcome of this trial?
How will this affect other people?

Blog for week of 11/12/12
This article is about how Cinemark is rewarding customers who do not text during a film. Cinemark came up with an app for iPhone and Androids that determine whether someone uses their phone during the film. If the customer stays in the app through out the film, it will automatically send the customer a coupon. The article says this about one of Cinemarks idea "... they’d consider scheduling separate screenings of a film designating ones where texting would be allowed, and others where it wouldn’t."
I found this article really intresting because i think it is good that they are trying to fix the problems they have. This article affects students because they will not text as much, they can actually focus on the movie, and not distrub the people around them. As a future filmmaker, this motivates me along with many other things because people will actually pay more attention to my films and maybe more people would even go and watch it since they will know they will not be distracted as much during the film. As a consumer this affects me because i would want to go the movies more since i know that i will not be distracted, and maybe even if i don't text during the film in general i can sign up for that app and get coupons!
Some questions this article brings me are:
-"How will this affect cinemark theatres?"
-"Will they have a lot more customers?"
-"Will other theatres start doing this also?"

This article i read is about how people are already camping out for the premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2. The film comes out on Monday, and people are already camping out. There will be many different events for the campers. They will have events like fitness workouts, mini concerts, breakfasts, and showing s of past Twilight movies.
What caught my eye about the article was the fact that so many people are waiting for the showing of this movie. I would understand if they camped out a day before but when i saw it was 4 days in advanced, I think this is so ridiculous, even if I am a fan of the Twilight Saga.
As a future filmmaker I think reading this article defenitely motivates me to try to make movies that will be this succesful! As a consumer this affects me because i wonder how this will impact me. Some questions that come into mind while reading this article are questions like:
"How much money will this movie make?"
"Will it break records?"
"How many campers will there be in total?"

The article I read is about how many companies are helping with Hurricane Sandy. Disney for example is donating $2 million to the American Red Cross and other organizations. Disney also says it will help out by matching employee contributions dollar for dollar. According to the article "Time Warner Cable is donating $600,000 and is dispatching vehicles with mobile charging stations and free Wi-Fi access throughout New York City." Viacom is making a $1 million donation. And also according to the article the company says it will donate $500,000 to the Mayor’s Fund for NYC and a lot more.
I chose this specific article because i found it interesting how these companies are helping out the situation. As a student this article impacts me because it encourages me to work hard to be able to help if needed. As a future filmmaker this really motivates me to try to have my movies succeed because then I will be able to help anyone who is in need of my help. As a consumer this impacts me because this might make me want to switch my cable company to Time Warner Cable for example.
Some questions that come into mind after reading this article are questions like:
- What other companies will be helping out with Hurricane Sandy?
-How will this affect the companies helping out?

Blog :
The article i read was about how "former PepsiCo CEO Roger Enrico’s resignation as chairman of the Dreamworks Animation board is “effective immediately”, the company says." According to the article Ariel Investments president Mellody Hubson is replacing him. Roget Enrico led the studio board since it became public in 2004. The CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg says this : " "...I’d like to deeply thank Roger for his unfailing service over the past eight years and wish him the very best in the future.”"
This article affects a student because this shows how hard work can pay off and get you a good job like the one Enrcio had. What caught my eye about this article is that i know this company because i watch movies that are made by Dream Works and i wanted to know more information on them. As a future filmmaker, this affects me because i am able to see how things work in the film industry. As a consumer this affects me because i wonder if things will change with Dream Works because of this action ! This is a question that also comes into my mind.

This article is about how Robert Pattinson, will be starring in Hold on to Me along with Carey Mulligan. The film will be directed by James Marsh, who won an Oscar for his films.
What caught my eye about this article is that i think Pattinson is a great actor. As a student this impacts me because you realize how far you can get in life and make a lot of money just like Pattinson will be doing, in starring in so many films. As a future filmmaker this is able to show me how much more successful my film can be depending on the actors I choose. Because i am sure this film will be a great success not only because Marsh, an Oscar winning person is directing it nut also because of Pattinson, a lot of people would probably want to go and watch it because of him. As a consumer who is a fan of Pattinson this can affect me in a positive way because I will probably want to go and watch the film. The questions i get from this article are:
" Will the prices be higher then usual because of the big star ?'
" Would this film get a different view on it if Pattinson as not starring in it?"
&
"Will the film be successful especially because of the actor?"

Blog for week of October 8!
This article is about how Stan Lee Media, Inc. is asking Disney to give them the $5.5 billion that they made with the superhero movies and merchandise. Some of the superheroes include Iron Man, Spiderman, and some of the Avengers. "“Defendant The Walt Disney Company has represented to the public that it, in fact, owns the copyright to these characters as well as to hundreds of other characters created by Stan Lee...""
What caught my eye about this article is that I watch Disney movies and superhero movies. I think it is interesting to not just watch the movies but also know a bit more of information. As a student this does not really impact me. As a future filmmaker this impacts me because I need to see how there are opportunities you can take. For example maybe if another company is not doing as good and another popular company buys them they can have a better outcome together. As a consumer I wonder if this is going to change Disney and superhero stuff.

BLOG for the week of Oct. 1, 2012!
Article this week is about how Sony Pictures is negotiating to put Little House on the Prairie into a movie. The movie will be directed by David Gordon Green and Abi Morgan as the writer of the script. "Scott Rudin will produce with Trip Friendly." "Little House On The Prairie is based on the semi-autobiographical classic children’s book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder..." The series of books were once a T.V. series that played from 1974-1983. Things are not set yet but they are working on getting it into a movie!
I think this article is important because it shows how after many years you can still use old books to make a movie. I bet a lot of people never really expected for someone to make a movie out of it. This does not necessarily impact me as a student but as a future filmmaker this is important because maybe books that are out right now and are not as a film, can be made into movies later on and maybe even be a huge hit. I think many questions that this raises for me and the industry are stuff like:
-"Will it actually become a movie?"
-"How much will tickets be?"
-"Will this movie be made in 3D?"
-"What other stories will be made into movies?"

Blog !
This article is about how Fox is trying to stop the "Black Swan" Intern Suit. It is a follow up of a last blog i posted. Fox was having problems with some interns who sued for unpaid labor. Fox got a lot of sues for many different reason's. Fox is now trying to stop this from getting out of hand, they are trying to fix things. The article is also explaining how some of the interns who sued Fox were not even working for Fox and were actually working for Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky’s production company.
I think this is important because it shows that Fox is trying to fix things. It also shows that it is important because some of the information that come out are not true. This impacts me as a student and a future filmmaker because it shows that you need to be prepared for what is to come in the film industry. As a consumer this can impact because you are not able to know who is telling the truth between both companies. Some questions that this brings up is : " Who is telling the truth? " "How will this change when Fox has to work with other companies, will other companies not want to work with Fox?"

Blog ! Blog ! Blog !
This article is about how Netflix is not disrupted by growing competition Amazon. Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos stated “the most-watched content on Netflix is exclusive to Netflix.” Because of this they are thinking in investing in an original serious, House of Cards. Serandos also states that he’s not concerned after the e-retail power doubled its video streaming library by cutting a deal with EPIX.
What really caught my eye about this article is the fact that it has to do with Netflix, i love reading articles about Netflix since i use it so much! I really like to inform myself about the stuff i use. I do not really think this has such a great impact on me as a student because i think this has more to do with the two companies and i do not think it can effect students. The effect i think this has on me as a future filmmaker is that i think i can get ideas about the stuff that Netflix is doing to keep their customers and use this ideas in the future. I think this effects me as a consumer because what if Amazon does start giving better services i would not know which company to choose. The questions this article raises to me is " Will Amazon have a better service & shows/movies then Netflix ?" & " Will this competition really affect Netflix?"

New Blog !
Tonight's blog is about how Barack Obama had an edited version of The Road We've Travled to help with his reelection campaign. The original film was shown earlier this year. The film was lowered from 17 minutes to 7 minutes. What caught my eye is what usually catches my eye on most articles I read, it's the fact that I have no idea that this stuff happens. As a student i believe this definitely affects because it shows me that I need to really keep myself informed. I'm sure I am not the only student that did not know about this, so I think all students should keep up to date with news etc. What caught my eye is that I like how Government in this case Barack Obama, can connect in these types of ways with Filmmaking. As a future filmmaker I believe that this affects me because I can see that there are other ways of using my films not only to show in theatres but also with government and other stuff also. This article makes me think "Will Obama get more votes because of this edited film ?"

A New Advantage for Netflix Viewers
Recently, I have read an article about Netflix's partnership with The Weinstein Co’s (TWS), which will take off early 2013. As a daily Netflix user, this is a huge advantage, giving viewers like my self more freedom to watch our favorite movies and television shows that are under the TWC umbrella whenever we choose to. Amongst the popular shows, The Bachelorette and the movie Only God Forgives with Ryan Gosling will be a huge hit. As a student and a future Filmmaker, I am learning that partnering up with a company like Netflix, as one form of marketing would be a great idea to reach a broader audience would help with the success of launching your potential productions. However, a main concern would be my future production getting lost in a mixture of over 50,000 other films. How easily can someone find my movie ? What does it take or how much will it cost the average film producer to have their film featured at the top of Netflix's website? Unfortunately, these questions will not be answered until I face the situation.

The article that I read has to do with how Fox Entertainment has been sued many times. The problems have to do with Interns. For example two interns in 2010 sued Fox for "alleged violations of employment laws". Some people even sued for unpaid labor. This article caught my eye because I watch many of the films that are involved with this and never really stop and think about the problems behind it. It was good to inform myself about this because like many other people I just watch the programming and never think about what problems are hidden. As a student this really impacts me because I am now more aware of what goes on. As a future filmmaker it can impact me because I am becoming more and more aware about things and I can make sure I try to avoid these problems by learning from others mistakes. After reading the article I am starting to ask my self questions like "Could this stuff be happening in other companies not just Fox?" or "How often has this happened before?" I was shocked at how many times Fox has been sued before but keeps being sued and does not learn from their mistakes.
